My good friend Roger Dickerman really knows how to work an interview.  His knowledge of health, wellness and fitness is vast, he gets just how to pace the discussion, and has a knack for pulling the most relevant info out of even the most bumbling (i.e., me) of guests.  I truly value Roger’s friendship, his knowledge, coaching acumen, and his contribution to the Paleo f(x) community.

Gettin’ my mind swole on…
Albert Einstein once said, “Intellectual growth should commence at birth and cease only at death.”  I really take that to heart. Especially so when I have the opportunity to rub elbows with some of the best and brightest in the S&C and functional medicine crowd.  I had just that chance this past weekend as Ben House and Aaron Davis of Austin’s Train • Adapt • Evolve  hosted Optimizing Athleticism: The Health and Performance Solution this past weekend in Austin.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: if you’re serious about your craft, you absolutely have to attend live events.  This is in addition to devouring all you can in other formats as your day-to-day intellectual sustenance.  The cost of events like this pales in comparison to the amount of knowledge you’ll gain, and the lifelong friends you’ll meet.  I’ve never regretted a live event I’ve ever attended, and this was no exception.  I’ll say this: ask anyone in attendance and I’ll bet they say they would have gladly paid double for the experience.  What a fantastic group of people, all of whom I’m proud to have met and come to know.
Hats off to Ben and Aaron for organizing such a great event, and thanks to all the speakers and attendees — I learned something valuable from each and every one of you.  Thanks so much for paying it forward.
And a big time thanks to Mario Mendias of My Fit Foods for letting us have run of his beautiful, Lake Travis home.


Looking for a workout idea?  Here ya go.  This is what I hit on Sunday after returning from the conference.
A1) 1 power clean + 1 front squat at 185
A2) 14 bodyweight lunges
15 rounds; at the bar every other minute.  Every rep of every exercise was as close to perfect as I could make it.
