Books could be written on each of these lines, of course.  In fact, books have been written; volumes upon volumes. Is there value in reading them? Absolutely.

But consider the story of Hillel the Elder.

When Hillel was challenged by a Gentile to explain the Torah to him as he balanced on one foot, Hillel responded:


What is hateful to you, do not do to your fellow: this is the whole Torah; the rest is commentary; go and learn.
