Abraham, like I said in the post I won't debate this with you but there are many absolute facts in evolution, one only needs to do a few clicks of the mouse on Google to find them but this requires an open mind to accept what you read, that which you may not like. Thanks so much for the comment.

Thanks so much for your comment George & for reading! I completely agree, we can't get caught up in dogma! That's where you miss the forest for the trees IMHO...

I say amen to not taking scripture too literally. We surely need to remember that these things were written a very very long time ago, passed down and changed.

It should be taken like a story, and understood in the terms of the context they were delivered: that it's most suitable for the time at which it's delivered.

The more people stick to dogma, the worse things get and the less tolerant we are (and I realise that I'm a bit dogmatic about this point!).

Keep up the good work (and the paleo)

Hi, Just a small(?) point: Evolution is actually a theory, not 'an absolute fact'
I am a Christian and I believe we should indeed take care of our bodies, including eating what we were designed to eat :-)

Three items sum this up for me, however I am no expert, but do enjoy the majority of your blog;

1) "at least in some form or fashion, “broken” to begin with" Keith have you ever been obese? I would think not based on what I have read, where as JK, I beleive, admits on his blog battling with weight. So maybe in your experience you didnt, and have never, needed to be fixed??

2) "attempting to balance health with performance", 100% you make this clear with your blog posts, labs etc etc.

3)" a fully lived life means much more than longevity for it’s own sake" - Amen Brother!

Insulting other's lifestyle choices as direct as the post from JK is pure rude and arrogant.

Absolutely. And we saw this in one of our Efficient Exercise trainers who endeavored to push his max dip through the roof. he did just that, but didn't gain much at all in the way of muscle (as verified via DEXA scan).

Am I right in thinking that neurological adaptations are also largely responsible for changes at the other end of the spectrum as well?

I seem to remember something about this from my studying, years ago, in relation to elite level weight lifters, that as they got older the didn't gain any extra muscle, but they still got stronger...

Constant variation within a small reference range?
That's the goal with training, no? To walk the tightrope between sufficient consistency of stimulus and not getting stale from applying the stimulus!

Keep up the good work,

What I can also see in this progression is a move from prescription to experimentation at the personal level.

I think that some people are realising that we need to get the crap out of our diets, but also that within what we can eat, there is a reasonably wide variation in the way each persons diet is created and evolves.

This is what I have experienced with Robb Wolf, and will now be looking out for it with others...

Let's not forget that Joe Montana high jumped 6'9 in high school. Actually I'd favor a standing long jump over the VJ since so many have learned to fudge on the VJ by not reaching as high as they could at the prejump measurement. To check out upper body strength I'd add one more test a maximum weight pullup--that is do one rep with the most additional weight you can handle and then add the two. If you're 200 lb and can do a chin/pullup with an additional 40 lb you score 240 lb.
